If you allowed the tyre pressure to go outside the preset range (range is visible using a VCDS scanner), you must inflate/deflate your tyres to the correct pressure and then drive for 10-15 minutes to reset the alarm. You find 03159 (tire pressure monitoring in ESP function) stored in the ABS control module, J104 (address word 03), without other DTCs. Here are the fixes for each scenario. The “TPMS” message, by itself, is NOT due to low tire pressure. The message only means that the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is not active. The average cost to replace the TPMS Sensor is between $314 and $368. Find out TPMS Sensor replacement pricing for your vehicle. Advertisement.
May I point out that the 2009 and early 2010 Q5 had the direct tire pressure monitoring system. The direct system is still more reliable in my opinion, but it is more costly and less convinient, but the indirect system's technology have advance quite a bit in recent years to the point where Audi and other car manufacturers feel more comfortable installing it their cars.
